Speaking of the need for innovation, here’s a few innovative ideas I’ve read about this week:
- Wall Street Journal Creating New “LinkedIn Killer” Called WSJ Connect – It’s great to see a news org thinking this way. While taking on an entrenched brand like LinkedIn is a tall order, they have a niche audience in the business world that could really take shine to this kind of network.
- What If: The New New York Times – Excellent “outsider” analysis on how a news startup could take down the likes of the NYT and other newspapers by taking away their greatest assets – their best journalists.
- Measuring reader engagement by how often they copy and paste – Very innovative idea for audience engagement measurement.
